Gunman kills 4 Louisville Bank employees live, police say
Police gave no reason for the shooting in the city of Kentucky but said the gunman killed was also a bank employee.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A 20-year-old man shot dead four colleagues with a shotgun Monday at a downtown bank where he worked, police said. Nine other people were injured in the attack, three of them seriously. The suspect, who officials said live-streamed the killing spree, was killed by police after a gun battle with them.
Police have identified four victims, all former National Bank employees, including Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliott, 63; Juliana Bauer, 45; and James Tutt, 64. Among those seriously injured was Nickolas Wilt, 26, who graduated from the Police Academy on March 31. . According to the LinkedIn page, he was a "union member and portfolio banker" at Old National, a regional bank. He worked there full-time for almost two years, having completed an internship in previous years.The police did not give a reason. Several national politicians, including President Biden, released statements Monday deploring the violence in Louisville and calling for action on gun laws. Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky said the day should focus on "friends and loved ones who are no longer with us."
